David is an internationally acclaimed pianist and teacher. After studying with Alberto Portugheis, he continued at the Royal Northern College of Music with Derrick Wyndham, in Paris with Yvonne Lefébure and Alain Planès, and finished his studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Hanover with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, earning his Konzertexam. After winning the Maisie Lewis Award in 1990, he gave his first London recital at Purcell Hall.
David has performed worldwide, in Europe, the United States, Russia, and China, at major festivals and on broadcasts such as ZDF, BBC, and France Musique and at festivals including the Schleswig Holstein Festival,Bratislava Music Festival and Rostropovich Festival, Baku.
Other notable concerts and projects include the complete keyboard works of Bach from 2015 to 2024 in Cannes, the 48 Preludes and fugues of Bach and the 24 Preludes and Fugues of Shostakovich both at the Gnessine Academy. He performed the Shostakovich cycle again this year at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles and he recently made a filmed recording of these works at the Budapest Music Center currently being broadcast on the Stingray Classica Television Channel.
An experienced teacher, he continues to work both at the Cannes Conservatoire and at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles having been a guest teacher at the Gnessine Academy in Moscow. David is also an international-level bridge player.
